C.V.

I have been enamelling for over 30 years. I began by teaching myself from books and later attended workshops run by the Guild of Enamellers. I began making jewellery at Adult Education classes, firstly evenings at Croydon and later I studied under Louise O’Neill at SCOLA, Sutton. I have also studied enamelling under Joan Mackarell at West Dean College and more recently at the Goldsmiths Centre where I completed a course in Advanced Enamelling.  I have successfully completed an Open College of the Arts course in Jewellery and a City and Guilds course in Enamelling. I was Chairman of the Guild of Enamellers in 1998 and have held many other Offices with them both at regional and national level. Having completed a Certificate in Education (Cert. Ed. PCET), I taught Jewellery Making and Silverwork for Croydon Adult Education for 12 years and was one of their top tutors with a Grade 1 Teaching observation report. After I was made redundant by them in 2016 I bought all of their equipment and now ran termly Jewellery and Enamelling classes on a private basis, alongside making and selling my own work. These ran successfully until the pandemic forced me to close them. In 2020 I entered the Goldsmiths’ Craftsmanship and Design Awards #JewelleryOscars for the first time, and I won a Silver Award for my cloisonné enamel necklace ‘Magic Carpets Flying Over the City of my Dreams’. I exhibit and sell my work with the Sussex Guild and the Surrey Guild of Craftsmen and have work in a number of galleries as well as taking part in shows all over The South-east of England.
